IGP announces new squad “SWAT” to replace SARS
The inspector general of police, Mohammed Adamu, has set a new police outfit to take over the scrapped Special Anti-Robbery squad of the Nigerian police force.

Vanguard news reports that the new unit will be known as “special weapons and tactics” (SWAT) team will gap fill arising solution from the dissolution of the defunct SARS.

He also on Tuesday October 13th, 2020 in accordance with section 18 (10) of the police act 2020, ordered all personnel of the defunct SARS to report to the force headquarters at Abuja for debriefing and medical examination.

 

A statement by the force public relation officer, DCP FRANK MBA, said that the officers are expected to the process as a prelude to further training and reorientation before being redeployed into mainstream police duties.
